New Alzheimer's Treatments That May Ease the Mind

STOCKHOLM--Alzheimer's researchers gathered here in late July with a sense of urgency and optimism about possible treatments--and perhaps preventions--for the mind-robbing disease. The 4000 attendees heard about progress on several fronts, including possible vaccines and treatments aimed either at blocking formation of {beta} amyloid, a small peptide thought to trigger the loss of brain neurons, or at dissolving the abnormal {beta}-amyloid deposits that are a hallmark of the disease.
