Impetus for Studying Aging?

6 December 2002

Trey Powers

I got interested in aging because I grew up on a small farm and noticed animals around me getting old and dying while I remained youthful. The tremendous intellectual problems that accompany aging research continue to stimulate me to think and learn. I also believe that an understanding of the basic mechanisms of aging is central to understand human biology. For these and other reasons I find gerontological research very rewarding.
